Gotta have faith

Amid all the skyscrapers, temples are dotted across Hong Kong and remain active places of worship. The city's many festivals center around these temples. Buddhists, Taoists and the other faithful congregate at these shrines.

Our guide referred to this place as General Marshall's Temple. It seems temples devoted to military personnel are popular as religious sites. I had to walk around this display three times so that my wish would come true. I also lit incense inside, but had to quickly exit because my eyes were burning from all that smoke.

A visitor can write his wishes on a red ribbon and hang it at the bottom of one of these lanterns. Smoke gets in your eyes.
