Jaipur gallery

Amer, or Amber Palace, in Jaipur was built in 1744 after the Persian invasion.

The approach to Amer Fort

An elephant races with our car to Amer Fort

Seat belts, anyone? Buses are not allowed to drive all the way up to Fort Amer, so open-sided vehicles and Jeeps drop visitors at the entrance

Much of the mosaics and frescoes deteriorated in the 1970s and 1980s, but the palace's architecture and colorful decorations are now being restored

The assembly hall with two huge sterling-silver barrels on each side of the entrance

Left: A female elephant is being taken away after she has obliged one of the ship's student to paint her. Below: Four elephants in an elephant sanctuary let the us wash them with hoses and paint their face and bodies
